Well I was inspired by a Chris Townsend DVD to get out and try a wild camp around Keswick lake in the Lake District for a night to test out the new Hilleberg Enan tent. The date it is the 28th May 4am and I set off on a long 7 hour drive to Keswick just for a single nights wild camp. I must be mad. After finding a parking spot just outside the town, I load up and start walking through the town with the dog around the edge of the lake.
Unknown to me I had taken a wrong turn and ended up what I found out later to be taking the hardest route up. My dog certainly seemed to be a right little mountain girl, she loved it, but I found it tougher having only 2 legs and being overweight.
Eventually I got to the proposed campsite for the night, Brown Tor.
I didn't want to stray far from the car, 5 miles or so was enough to get away from everyone and test out the tent. The Hilleberg Enan is a great tent, at just 1.1Kg and it survived the night with no condensation. A successful test of the new Enan, even if it was a 7 hour drive each way just to test it in the Lake District.
The dog certainly seemed to enjoy the trip.
